Our lifesaving work is felt by every community in Wales and countless people are alive today because of our volunteers. We rely on your support and fundraising to continue our work.
Take the story of father and son; Robert and Gareth Hancock. They were not on duty, but on holiday relaxing by the pool when cries for help emerged from a neighbouring swimming pool. Alert to the situation, they discover a child had been found unconscious at the bottom of a swimming pool. With the little girl's appearance quickly turning lifeless and blue and with no first aid kit and no oxygen, the situation is desperate.
Yet Robert and Gareth remained calm because they are equipped with the training and knowledge to save lives.
By supporting St John Wales you are helping to ensure our 'everyday heroes' such as Robert and Gareth have the vital, lifesaving equipment to help you, your friends and your family whether at home or abroad in their time of need. Please donate today.
Quickly taking control of the situation, they began their rescusitation efforts knowing that every second is vital to the little girl's survival. Performing CPR – doing chest compressions and rescue breaths – skills they have mastered through years of service to St John Wales, they stabilise the girl before the ambulance arrives.
